Local businesses help drive our economy, give us a diverse variety of places to shop and eat, and add character and quality to our community. Here are our favourite businesses in Kitchener-Waterloo.
Central Fresh Market
Central Fresh Market is a locally owned and operated market with a great selection. “Selling only the highest quality fresh meats, farm fresh produce and competitively prices brand name grocery products, spanning over 50 years in the heart of Kitchener-Waterloo”. City Café Bakery
City Café Bakery is one of our favourites because we can stop by for a coffee and grab a number of delicious treats to go with it. Not to mention they have delicious wood-fired pizza! With a number of locations, it’s convenient to always be close to a great cup of coffee. What gives these cafés such charm is their honour system for self-paying. They’ve have faith in humanity and really value the honesty of their customers. This unique value has created such a sense of community
With quality restaurants all over Waterloo Region, the Charcoal Group is a wonderful company to support. Once you visit one of its restaurants, you’ll understand why these restaurants are so successful. It’s a quality you don’t find in large chains, and part of why we love Charcoal Steakhouse, Martini’s, Dels, Wildcraft Grill & Bar, The Bauer Kitchener, The Bauer Bakery & Cafe, Beertown, Sociable and Moose Winooski’s. No matter what you’re in the mood for, you’ll find it with the Charcoal Group.
The Healthy Haven
The Healthy Haven is “Kitchener-Waterloo’s definitive source for the best food and nutrition.” In one convenient location, you can find David’s Gourmet, The Healthy Butcher, Fiddleheads and Kara’s Smart Foods. We love that gourmet and nutrition come together to offer us quality products that we can feel good about.
Masters ‘N Hounds
Let’s be honest; we all consider our furry friends a part of our family. So it’s wonderful to have a local business focused on our pets. Masters ‘N Hounds has a great selection of quality pet food as well as every supply you need to keep them happy. This “pet store in the country” is in Ayr, which means it has space, not only a great pet store but for a dog park as well!
Nougat Bakery and Delicatessen
For those of us who like to indulge, Nougat Bakery and Delicatessen is a favourite local business. With locations in Kitchener and Uptown Waterloo, it’s always easy to stop by and pick up some delicious treats. With a focus on “fresh, quality foods offering customers European flavours and atmosphere”, you just know everything is going to be great. You can pick up their breads and pastries, coffee and lunch options, and exceptional desserts. We love how fresh everything is and even though it takes us a few minutes to decide between all the decadent desserts, we’re always pleased.
Everyone should have a trusted tailor. One of the local tailors we love is Skytop Tailors in the Stanley Park Mall. A great place to go to take care of your family’s sewing an alternation needs.
If you’re searching for impeccable food, look no further. Vincenzo’s is Waterloo’s source for authentic Italian Canadian foods. It’s been around for over 4 decades and continues to offer quality foods. We love weaving through the aisles looking at the amazing selection for new products to try. One of the great things about Vincenzo’s is no matter how often you shop there, you’ll always find something new. There are so many great gourmet food choices, cheese, meats, deli seafood, and an awesome hot table.
