Waterloo Town Square

This time of year it’s the perfect combination of Uptown vibrance and Winter Wonderland. With the ice rink and twinkling lights at night, this is a great spot for a Valentine’s Day date. Glide around the uptown rink, then take a stroll up King St. to one of the great cafes for a hot chocolate, or to your favourite restaurant for a glass of vino.

Kissing Bridge

Situated just outside of Waterloo in West Montrose is the West Montrose Covered Bridge, also popularly knowng as the “kissing bridge”. The name itself oozes romance. The bright red structure stretches over the Grand River and is a great backdrop for photos any time of the year. What makes this bridge so special is that it’s the last reminaing covered bridge of its kind (built by John and Benjamin Bear in 1881). And is it called the kissing bridge? The nickname came about because couples can walk through the bridge and be out of sight. Definitely ones of the most romantic places around.

Waterloo Park

There are so many beautiful areas of Waterloo Park–the fields, the gardens, the boardwalk, the zoo. The boardwalk is a romantic area, with a little gazebo and a bench perfect for two people overlooking the water. Grab a tea from Uptown and sit on the water’s edge.

Snyder’s Flats

If you’re looking for a natural setting, Snyder’s Flats is a great option. 4.5 km of trail make it the ideal spot for outdoorsy couples who love to run and walk. Bundle up and go for a walk this Valentine’s Day.

Victoria Park

As the oldest park in Kitchener, Victoria Park is a Waterloo Region staple. It’s a popular spot for local events and is conveniently located steps from Downtown Kitchener. Shelters and benches provide lots of seating options, access to the Iron Horse Trail makes it the perfect destination after a walk, and the historical clock tower is a sight to see. Take your skates for an evening of skating under the stars, then head to one of the many restaurants in Downtown Kitchener for a warm drink and something delicious to eat.
