Advice from Linda Cooper
If you’re a buyer looking to purchase a home with the intent of putting in a pool, there are a few things you should consider:
- Is the lot large enough? Know your municipality’s setback requirements for fencing.
- Is there anything in the way? Make sure there’s nothing that will get in the way of installing the pool, such as a septic system. Is there an easement on the property that would hinder the location of the pool?
- Is there an infiltration gallery in the back yard? This is something that not everyone thinks to look for. Your municipality should have this information in the Building Department. Another easy way to check is if you’re out on the site, see if the eavestrough dips down into the ground. If it goes into the ground, chances are, you do have an infiltration gallery, and you do need to find out where that is located.
We hope these tips were helpful and that you’re on your way to building your dream pool!
