Whether we want to admit it or not, Winter is on it’s way. We’ve been lucky to have such beautiful weather the past few weeks, but it’s only a matter of time until the snow is here for good. We want to ensure you and your home are ready for the winter so we’ve put together a few helpful tips to get you started getting your home ready for Winter.
Window & Doors
Inspect door frames and window frames for cracks, and take a look at the weatherstripping. If any glass is cracked or broken, be sure to repair it before we’re in the thick of winter.

Make sure the heat stays in and the cold air stays outside. Not only will this keep you more comfortable in the winter, but it will help reduce your energy bills.
Secure your home
Mitigating the risk of anything damaging happening in the winter is the best way to avoid a large bill AND avoid stress. Check for any drafty areas in your home. Again, anywhere there’s a draft, you’re going to be throwing money at the utility companies.
Replace screen windows with storm windows or plexiglass to insulate better.
Outside, clear out your eavestroughs and make sure any storm water drainage systems are pointing away from your house. It’s a good idea to check back on this when the snow is melting as well. The last thing you need on a sunny day is a flooded basement.
Fireplace
We all love cuddling up next to a fire on a cold winter evening. Inspect your fireplace for drafts, and clean out any existing soot. If you want to be extra nice to yourself, set up some kindling and logs so the first fire is ready to go!
Take a few minutes this weekend to give your house a once over, then you can sit back, relax, and have a worry-free winter.
