Winter is coming! This time of year typically sees different trends than the rest of the year. With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of advice for any homeowner who is thinking about listing their home this Winter.
Advice for Sellers Listing In The Winter
One thing to keep in mind is that this time of year tends to have mostly serious buyers out looking at homes. These are buyers who are willing to go out into the cold because they are on a mission and ready to act when they find the right home. If you need some advice on what you can do to get your home ready to sell in the Winter, we’d love to give you some advice, specific to your property.
Prepare for the Winter weather
Give prospective buyers a clear path to the door by shoveling the driveways and walkways. When it gets really snowy or wet, you’ll want to leave a good mat at the door so boots and winter footwear can be easily removed and kept away.
Light the way
After you’ve cleared a path to the house, remember to leave the outside lights on. This time of year it gets dark early, and you want potential buyers to have no trouble getting into your house (it’s also an opportunity to show them the outside of the house). Light up the insight of your home as well. Turn the lights on to make your home feel bright and feeling fresh.
Keep the house cozy
Keep the house warm while buyers are viewing the property. They’ll want to stay! We recommend setting the temperature to at least 21 degreed Celsius (70 Fahrenheit).
The Benefits of Selling In the Winter
- Serious buyers are out and looking to buy
- More potential for long closing dates if that’s what you’re looking for
- Less inventory on the market, which means more serious buyers through your door
